Oklahoma City, October 21st / PRNewswire / — BancFirst Corporation (Nasdaq Global Select Market: BANF) announced that its net profit for the third quarter of 2026 was $67.3 million, with earnings per diluted share at $1.97; in the same period last year, these figures were $62.7 million and $1.85 respectively.
Within the three months ending September 30, 2026, the company's net interest income amounted to 136 million US dollars, which is higher than the 125.6 million US dollars in the same period of 2025. The company stated that the increase in loan volume and the overall growth of interest-bearing assets were the main reasons for the rise in net interest income. The net interest margin in the third quarter of 2026 was 3.85%, compared to 3.79% in the third quarter of 2025. The company provided for credit losses of 3.1 million US dollars and 4.4 million US dollars respectively for the quarters ending September 30, 2026, and 2025.
Non-interest income for this quarter totaled 51.4 million US dollars, an increase from 49.9 million US dollars in the same period last year. Fees for deposit services and treasury income both rose compared to the third quarter of 2025.
As of September 30, 2026, the company's non-interest expenses increased to $98.2 million, compared to $92.1 million during the same period in 2025. The increase in expenses is mainly attributed to a rise in salaries and employee benefits by $4.1 million.
As of September 30, 2026, the company's total assets amounted to $15 billion, an increase of $182.3 million from December 31, 2025. Loans increased by $187.9 million from the end of 2025 to reach $8.7 billion; deposits were $12.7 billion, an increase of $29.3 million from the end of 2025. At the end of the third quarter, the balance of the sweep account was $4.7 billion, a decrease of $282.5 million from December 31, 2025. Shareholders' equity was $2 billion, an increase of $142.9 million from the end of 2025.
As of September 30, 2026, non-performing interest-bearing loans accounted for 0.87% of total loans, up from 0.72% at the end of 2025. The total amount of non-performing interest-bearing loans at the end of the third quarter was 75.6 million US dollars; one commercial loan was the main reason for this increase in the balance. Credit loss provisions accounted for 1.23% of total loans, compared to 1.22% on December 31, 2025. Net write-offs for the quarter were 4 million US dollars, compared to 1.7 million US dollars in the third quarter of last year. Of this amount, 1.8 million US dollars were related to purchased credit impaired loans. The company stated that these loans were identified as credit impaired loans at the time of acquisition, and provisions were made for expected credit losses; since then, the performance of these loans has met expectations.
BancFirst Corporation CEO David Harlow stated: "This quarter's earnings performance was strong, thanks to the growth of interest-bearing assets, stable profit margins, year-over-year increase in non-interest income, and expenditures that were in line with plans. The capital level remains strong, and the provisions for credit losses are also sufficient—both are at levels necessary to support the company through future economic cycles. Asset quality indicators have remained stable, and the level of write-offs is still consistent with historical levels. Although the business expansion pipeline is encouraging, we expect higher interest rates and a 'higher and longer' interest rate outlook to suppress future economic activity. The transaction we previously announced to acquire Spirit Bank located in Tulsa is progressing as planned and is expected to be completed in October."
