PRC-Saltillo's acquisition of Ner Chat will introduce the Minspeak ® symbol into the Glint visual support platform.
This acquisition will combine the experience in the ( AAC ) field with school-oriented innovation. Both parties plan to integrate the familiar ( Minspeak ) symbols into ( Glint ), to help educators and clinical staff devote more time to supporting communication.
Worcester, Ohio, USA, October 22nd / PRNewswire / -- Leaders in the field of Global Assistive and Alternative Communication ( AAC ) PRC-Saltillo announced today the acquisition of Ner Chat. The latter is the creator of Glint, which is a visual support production platform that helps educators and professionals to compress visual support materials that would normally take hours to prepare into just a few seconds.
This acquisition brings together two organizations with a common mission: to make communication support easier to create, easier to implement, and more accessible to those who rely on these tools every day.
As the first cooperation project, both parties are working on introducing the Minspeak ® symbol of PRC-Saltillo into Glint; these familiar symbols are used in the LAMP Words for Life ® and Unity ® AAC applications, as well as in the Genesis ®, NovaChat ®, Accent ®, and Via ® devices that are based on Minspeak.
For teams that support children using the AAC system based on Minspeak, the new features in this plan will provide a simpler path for creating visual support and lightweight alternative AAC using familiar symbols. Educators and clinicians will be able to use symbols that many learners are already familiar with through LAMP Words, for, Life, Unity, and other systems based on Minspeak to create classroom activity boards, visual schedules, selective materials, and communication support.
Ner Chat was founded in 2024 by Dylan Makani and Scott Soifer. The initial intention of developing Glint was to make assistive technologies more accessible in schools. Glint enables educators, therapists, and support teams to quickly create personalized visual aids with just simple text prompts, reducing the time that would otherwise be spent on manual creation from several hours to just a few seconds, thereby allowing them to devote more time to supporting learners and communicating with them.
PRC-Saltillo brings sixty years of AAC leadership experience to this collaboration. The company will celebrate its 60th anniversary in 2026, and this acquisition reflects its ongoing commitment to helping communicators, families, clinical professionals, and educators through innovative communication solutions and implementation support.
PRC-Saltillo CEO Sarah Wilds stated: "Our history is built on the relationships with AAC users, as well as the families, educators, and clinical staff who support them. These teams tell us what they need. We aim to make it easier to create useful materials using symbols that children are already familiar with, and to devote more time to supporting communication."
Glint Currently, it is possible to create schedules, social narratives, communication boards, and other visual aids through text prompts, and it also supports QR code sharing in over 50 languages. Adding the Minspeak symbol will help to connect this creation process with the communication tools that children and their teams are already using.
Ner Chat, Co-Founder and CEO, and Dylan Makani stated: "We created Glint to help educators and therapists transform their ideas into visual materials without having to spend hours preparing. Collaborating with PRC-Saltillo has brought deep AAC experience to this goal. We are delighted to be able to assist teams in creating support materials using familiar symbols and personalizing them for each learner, allowing them to devote more time to supportive communication."
The two companies plan to showcase a beta version on Closing The Gap Conference that contains the Minspeak symbol from Glint, followed by its opening to customers. This collaboration is the first of its kind between the two parties, and they also plan to introduce more innovations in the future.
Although Ner Chat has now become part of the PRC-Saltillo community, Glint will continue to use its existing brand. Both parties are working towards a simple goal: to use familiar tools, reduce preparation time, and create more opportunities for children to communicate and participate in their daily lives.
