FuelCell and its subsidiaries are engaged in the design, development, production, construction, operation, and services of high-temperature fuel cells for clean power generation. On June 24, 2026, FuelCell reportedly announced a capital equipment procurement agreement with Fit Energy USA LP ("Fit Energy"), which can provide up to 380 megawatts of fuel cell power for data centers. The first committed phase is 30 megawatts, and it includes an immediate deposit.
On September 2, 2026, FuelCell announced its financial results for the third quarter of the 2026 fiscal year, which showed a net loss of $45.3 million, reflecting "a higher gross loss compared to the same period last year." The reason for this is that "product costs and manufacturing overheads are currently higher than the contract pricing stipulated in the CEPA signed with Fit Energy." FuelCell stated that the annualized production volume "is below the level we expected our cost structure to be able to match with market pricing for orders of such scale." As a result, the company recognized a expense of $17 million to "reflect the impact of the contract pricing terms related to specific inventory and committed procurement obligations," which stem from the first committed 30 megawatt phase of that capital equipment procurement agreement.
Affected by this news, the stock price of FuelCell fell by $2.68 on September 2, 2026, a decrease of 15.69%, closing at $14.40 per share.
