HERNDON, Va. On October 23rd / PRNewswire / -- HawkEye 360, Inc. ( NYSE : HAWK ) Today, we announce that Cluster 16 has been successfully launched. This cluster consists of three satellites equipped with advanced antenna technology, aimed at expanding the flexibility and capacity of the company's space-based radio frequency ( RF ) collection architecture.
The Electron rocket, equipped with Rocket Lab, was launched on Cluster to carry out a dedicated mission known as “We ‘re Not Hawking Around’”. The launch site was located at Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in New Zealand. After the satellite entered its inclined orbit, the HawkEye 360 space operations team successfully established communication with all three satellites and began the in-orbit testing and debugging process.
The company stated that the launches of Cluster 15 and Cluster 16 were only three days apart, and they took off from launch sites on opposite sides of the Earth, which demonstrates HawkEye's capability to manage a complex global launch schedule. As the capacity for co-launches becomes increasingly limited, the company has secured launch opportunities up until 2028 to maintain continuity in the constellation, preserve flexibility, and support the ever-changing needs of customer missions.
Cluster The 16 also possesses advanced antenna capabilities, capable of simultaneously collecting multiple types of RF signals and transmitting task data downstream. HawkEye states that the Cluster 15 and Cluster 16 satellites together constitute the company's first batch to have this capability, which will increase the chances of data collection and enable faster delivery of task data to customers.
Cluster will provide exclusive capacity to support a customer of HawkEye 360, demonstrating the company's ability to configure and operate its space-based collection architecture around clear customer needs and specific operational priorities.
HawkEye, the CEO of 360, John Serafini stated: "The Cluster 16 upgrade has enhanced our capabilities and flexibility. Synchronous collection and downlink allow us to make more efficient use of on-orbit time, improving our signal collection capabilities, and at the same time, we can transmit task data back to Earth more efficiently. Combined with dedicated capacity, this also provides us with another way to customize our architecture around the operational needs of our customers."
These three satellites will operate in formation to detect, identify, and locate the RF signals from space. Once the debugging is complete, Cluster 16 will enhance the capabilities of HawkEye 360 to support national defense, intelligence, and security tasks, providing timely and shareable signal intelligence.
