- The former advisor Aptos and Buzz left the cryptocurrency project at the end of a one-year contract, stating that their separation was a "mutual decision," and indicated that they had sold their APT tokens.
- This "meme image player" has now turned his guerrilla marketing efforts towards Facebook's parent company, Meta, claiming that retail investors have been forgotten, while the fundamentals of that company are strong.
- Buzz previously used meme content to boost the popularity of the APT token, but the scale of Meta is approximately 2,619 times that of Aptos – which means that he is facing a real challenge this time.
BuzzlamicJihad —— Friends and family call him Buzz —— began to gain attention in early 2025. At that time, the unofficial "community takeover" initiative he launched helped Aptos attract more market attention.
“$ META looking good here ( META looks good.)” BuzzlamicJihad wrote on a social media platform on October 27, 2026.
In October 2025, Buzz officially joined Aptos as a consultant. At that time, Buzz told Decrypt that he hoped to fix the image issues of the project and position it as a high-end stablecoin network. A year later, when the contract expired, Buzz chose not to renew it.
“I don’t think there’s any other way this situation could go, and some of my original plans didn’t turn out as expected,” Buzz said to Decrypt, “So I didn’t renew the contract. Besides, they didn’t seem very willing to do so either. It can be considered a mutual decision.”
Aptos has not responded to Decrypt's request for a comment.
According to Decrypt data, since the beginning of this month, APT has fallen by 10.7%, with its market value dropping to 607 million US dollars. Buzz told Decrypt that he has sold all of his holdings of APT.
These days, this "meme image enthusiast" has turned his attention to Facebook's parent company, Meta. The reason is that the entire logic he built around Aptos was originally based on its connection with Facebook. Buzz told Decrypt that this logic can be traced back to Libra – a stablecoin project that has now been discontinued and is currently led by Facebook.
In December 2024, after Mo Shaikh, the founder of Aptos Labs, stepped down, Buzz continued to increase his holdings and began to claim that he was initiating a "community takeover," stating that this event "had not yet been priced by the market"—a claim he repeated at least seven times throughout January. At the same time, he also continuously posted messages on various social media platforms with phrases such as "Aptos lookin good here (Aptos looks promising)," "sidelined? (Still outside the market?)", and "motion not priced in yet (This volatility has not yet been priced)."
In February 2025, this "creative posting" strategy began to yield results. Some well-known influencers took his side, bringing more attention to Aptos, and the APT token rose by 17% within 24 hours.
However, he stated that this time his approach will be different.

According to the data from Yahoo and Finance, on the day this promotional campaign Buzz was launched, the stock price of Meta fell by 1.2%, and the company's market value was approximately 1.59 trillion dollars. If we compare by market value, Meta is about 2,619 times that of Aptos. Therefore, it will be a real challenge to drive a significant change in its stock price.
A success story that can be compared to this to some extent is Roaring Kitty. This meme stock influencer took the lead in calling on investors to buy the GME stocks of Game Station GameStop. By continuously posting on the forum r/ WallStreetBets and conducting live broadcasts on Reddit, he gathered a group of committed investors who helped to drive up the price of GameStop at a time when large hedge funds were short-selling the stock. This phenomenon ultimately led to GME setting a new historical high, causing some hedge funds to suffer significant losses, and in 2023, it inspired a feature film titled Dumb Money based on his experiences.
However, Roaring Kitty was promoting a stock with a current market value of $11.85 billion at that time. This means that the challenge faced by Buzz this time is 134 times greater.
Nevertheless, Buzz still hopes to help Meta enter a new era.
"I truly believe that [the AI agent of Meta], Muse, could also reap substantial benefits from the stablecoin reserve economy model initially envisioned by GlobalCoin (which later evolved into Libra / Diem). Therefore, it's not impossible for them to make a major comeback to the crypto industry," Buzz told Decrypt. "I would be honored if they chose to have me take the lead in this matter in some capacity."
