The U.S. Federal Trade Commission ( FTC ) is requiring multiple companies, ranging from food delivery services to airlines, to explain how they use personalized pricing.

The committee stated on Wednesday that it had issued orders to these companies, requiring them to provide details regarding the personal information they use to determine prices. The companies affected by these orders range widely, from retailers such as Walmart and Target, to food delivery services like Uber and DoorDash, to airlines such as Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.

FTC Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson states: "Consumers have the right to know whether companies use their web browsing habits or other personal data to determine the highest price to charge each consumer."

Ferguson also added, 'Workers also have the right to know how companies use their personal data and whether it will affect the compensation they receive.'

The report is still being updated.
