News from the IT family on November 3rd: According to Cailian News, Goldman Sachs released a research report yesterday, raising its forecast for global data center capacity in 2030 from 217GW to 273GW, representing a significant increase from approximately 103GW in 2025, with an annual compound growth rate of about 21%.

Goldman Sachs estimates that in the next five years, there will be an additional 170 GW of data center capacity added globally. Based on the experience of investing $50 billion per GW (Note from IT: the current exchange rate is approximately 333.27 billion RMB), the corresponding potential capital expenditure is about 8.5 trillion US dollars (the current exchange rate is approximately 56.66 trillion RMB).

Goldman Sachs has also raised its forecast for the data center capacity in the United States to 152GW by 2030 from 125GW, expecting a cumulative increase of 103GW after 2025, which accounts for about 60% of the global increase during the same period. Goldman Sachs believes that the rapid expansion of new cloud service providers such as Neocloud to meet the demand of GPU is also one of the important reasons for the upward revision of the capacity forecast for the United States.
