Palantir's stock price fell on Tuesday, following the software company's release of its third-quarter financial report. Analysts pointed out signs of slowdown in its total contract value ( TCV ) and other "forward-looking indicators."
Palantir indicates that for the first time, U.S. commercial revenue has surpassed government business, but the TCV of this sector was 1.5 billion dollars, representing a 11% increase from the same period last year. In the second quarter, Palantir this sector set a new TCV record of 2.1 billion dollars, a 153% increase compared to the same period last year.
A report on Monday, Piper Sandler, stated that investors "will undoubtedly look for evidence in the coming quarters to prove that the 11% growth in U.S. business TCV orders is merely an accidental phenomenon caused by changes in contract terms, and not some kind of structural change." The report read: "We believe that is not the case; the demand for PLTR solutions still far exceeds supply."
Goldman Sachs analysts pointed out in a report on Tuesday that they attributed part of this to the shortening of contract terms.
Analysts wrote, "The key is to transform shorter-term contracts into longer-term commitments, and Palantir has successfully achieved this in the past."
Palantir stated in its financial report that revenue has nearly doubled compared to a year ago and has for the first time exceeded $2 billion.
Apple's financial report
This iPhone manufacturer reported fourth-quarter revenue that exceeded expectations, but iPad sales fell short of projections, and the profit margin forecast disappointed investors.
This is Apple's first financial report since John Ternus ( John Ternus ) took over as CEO from Tim Cook ( Tim Cook ) in September. Apple's stock price fell by more than 2% on Tuesday.
The company is dealing with a global shortage of storage chips and a rush to buy computer components. Apple stated on Monday that storage costs this quarter were higher than those in the June quarter. Despite the rising prices, Ternus said that Apple has just concluded "the best fiscal year ever."
He stated to CNBC's McKenzie Siglos ( MacKenzie Sigalos ) that Apple's growth was achieved amidst limited supply and unfavorable foreign exchange conditions.
Leverage Shares Senior Research Analyst Violeta Todorova ( Violeta Todorova ) stated: "What people are concerned about is profitability. Management pointed out that storage is the main source of pressure, in addition to the costs brought about by the launch of Siri AI. A shortage of storage is also expected to limit the supply of Mac and iPad, as demand has already surpassed expectations."
Todorova added that Apple's stock price has risen by 25% in 2026, outperforming other large tech stocks, but such a premium means there "is almost no room for disappointment."
