After Figma announced third-quarter earnings and guidance that exceeded Wall Street's expectations, its stock price fell by 7% in after-hours trading.

The following is a comparison of the company's performance with the expectations consistent with LSEG:

  • Earnings per share: $0.10 after adjustment, with an expectation of $0.05
  • Revenue: $391.4 million, with an expectation of $375.8 million.

According to the company's statement, Figma's revenue for this quarter increased by approximately 43% year-over-year. The net loss narrowed to 81.3 million US dollars, which is a loss of 15 cents per share; in the same period last year, the loss was 1.1 billion US dollars, or a loss of 2.72 dollars per share.

After the adjustment, the company's operating profit margin reached 12%, which is higher than the 6.1% forecast given by the analysts from StreetAccount.

Management has raised its full-year forecasts. Figma currently expects an annual operating margin of 11%, which is higher than the 9% predicted in August; annual revenue is now expected to be between $1.497 billion and $1.499 billion, compared to the previous forecast of $1.463 billion to $1.467 billion. LSEG Analysts surveyed previously expected Figma revenue for 2026 to be $1.471 billion.

The company expects the revenue growth rate in the fourth quarter to slow down to around 33%. Analysts surveyed by LSEG previously predicted a growth rate of 28%.

One day before Figma issued this announcement, the high-valued design software startup Canva stated that it would lay off 22% of its staff.

As of 2026, the stock price of Figma has fallen by about 41% this year, while the S&P 500 index has risen by 12%. Earlier this year, investors were concerned that artificial intelligence models might pose a competitive risk to Figma. In most sectors of the software industry, such concerns have largely subsided, as existing companies continue to report growth.

Figma hopes to benefit from the increasing adoption rate of AI in website and application development. This quarter, the company will start offering customers more AI points while maintaining the same price.

Figma Chief Financial Officer Praveer Melwani said in an interview with CNBC on Wednesday: "This means that you may be sacrificing short-term revenue to invest in customers, in order to achieve more stable growth in the long term."

Figma stated in the announcement that among the organizations using AI points this quarter, the number of weekly active users has increased by nearly 50%. The expenditures of these organizations all exceed $10,000. The proportion of work handled by the company's own AI model has doubled, while the proportion of user-generated content that is revoked by AI has decreased.

Melwani said, "If we can provide certain services to our customers with lower latency, lower costs, or quality comparable to that of third parties, we are also willing to do so."

The company stated that management will discuss the financial results with analysts during a teleconference starting at 5 p.m. Eastern Time in the United States.

Why the Next Bitcoin Soft Fork Could Be Like a Drill
Long-term Bitcoin developer, BIP-54, in collaboration with Matt Corallo, stated that he believes there is an 80% chance that “Great Consensus Cleanup” will become the next Bitcoin soft fork. This proposal was first introduced in 2019 and aims to fix four long-standing but not urgent consensus vulnerabilities: poison, blocks, time, warp, bugs, Merkle, malleability, and the repeated coinbase transactions. LayerTwo Labs's Paul Sztorc described such maintenance upgrades as “a bit disheartening.”

Meta no longer uses fruits to name its AI models
According to people familiar with the matter, Meta will no longer use fruits to name its AI model. This is mainly due to brand considerations, as fruit-based codes do not quite fit with the grand goals of Meta in the AI domain. Meta had previously named its language model and image model " Avocado " and " Mango " respectively.
