The stock price of NextDC, an Australian data center operator, rose by 47% on Thursday to A$9.60. Previously, Goodman Group and Digital Realty (which is listed in the United States), sought to acquire up to 9.9% of the company's shares respectively.
NextDC indicates in a document that these two companies conducted post-market bookkeeping on Wednesday, with a quoted price of A$9.50 per share.
The board of directors stated that this approach was opportunistic, as just two weeks prior, NextDC had reported a power supply delay at its M3 facility in Melbourne and had also lowered its guidance for the fiscal year 2027.
NextDC indicates that it is currently unclear how many shares have been purchased.
Goodman and Digital Realty indicate that they currently have no plans to initiate any acquisitions, but they reserve this option.
This upward trend contrasts with the performance of U.S. data center stocks. Due to market concerns that regulations may become stricter after a Democratic Party's outright victory, CoreWeave fell by about 9%, and Iren fell by 11.2%.
