These transactions added approximately 1,650 new beds in the company's two core SEC markets, reflecting its continued optimism regarding the "shadow market" for student housing.

New York, November 6, 2026 / PRNewswire / -- Vertical integration student housing investment and operation company Hackberry Lane (referred to as “Hackberry”) announced today that it has completed multiple transactions covering Gainesville, Florida (University of Florida), and Tuscaloosa, Alabama (University of Alabama).

This acquisition has added approximately 1,650 student housing beds, bringing the total scale of Hackberry's own investment portfolio to around 4,000 beds.

The company stated that the newly acquired assets are located near the campuses of the University of Florida and the University of Alabama, further deepening Hackberry's presence in these two key markets and increasing the scale of its internal operational platform.

Hackberry focuses on row houses, single-family residences, garden-style communities, and boutique apartment complexes that are suitable for walking and located near campus corridors. The company states that while the broader student housing industry has been focusing on mid-to-high-end developments built specifically for this purpose, Hackberry targets a more dispersed "shadow market" where assets are still primarily held by local owners and operators, and are rarely subject to institutional management.
