According to CoinMeta, a16z and crypto have released an open-source zero-knowledge virtual machine called Lattice Jolt. This version utilizes lattice cryptography to achieve resistance to quantum attacks, resulting in a 2 to 3 times increase in the speed of both the prover and verifier, with proof sizes remaining under 100kb. Lattice Jolt employs a polynomial commitment scheme based on the assumptions of module-sis, which was developed in collaboration by the research and engineering team of LayerZero, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Southern California, and a16z and crypto. On CPU, this system can prove over 2 million RISC-V cycles per second; with the acceleration provided by Apple Metal, it can exceed 10 million cycles per second on MacBook, and the memory footprint of the prover is reduced to 200 bytes per cycle.
