According to CoinMeta, the U.S. House Financial Services Committee has scheduled a review of the Strategic Bitcoin Reserves Act on September 16. The bill requires that the government hold Bitcoin for at least 20 years within its reserves and establishes two structures to manage federal crypto assets. The bill was introduced by Republican Representative Nick Begich from Alaska, with Democratic Representative Jared Golden from Maine serving as a co-sponsor. The bill also requires the Secretary of the Treasury to establish a secure Bitcoin storage facility within 180 days and to implement a new disclosure system for federal Bitcoin holdings.
