The U.S. Senate failed to advance a clear legislation for the digital asset market, Coinbase stock price drops by nearly 9%

According to CoinMeta, on Tuesday afternoon, crypto stocks generally declined. The price of Coinbase fell by nearly 9%, closing at $171.54 from $174.42. This decline occurred as the U.S. Senate failed to pass a bill to clarify the digital asset market by a vote of 49 to 50, dealing a major blow to the industry. The bill was intended to set rules for the regulation of different cryptocurrencies and blockchain projects in the United States and to grant more power to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The failure of the bill to pass means that the industry will have to wait even longer to obtain the legislative support that many companies consider necessary. Meanwhile, Bitcoin has fallen by about 3% in the past 24 hours and is currently priced at $76,878.05. The traditional stock market also saw declines, with both the Nasdaq and the S&P 500 indices in the red zone.
