According to CoinMeta, hackers hijacked the Reddit account associated with HBO Max and published 108 malicious advertisements promoting malware designed to steal passwords and encryption wallet seed phrases. These advertisements lasted for about 48 hours. Hudson Rock reported that the advertisements promoted a fake HBO Max application and directed users of Mac and Windows to paste commands that could infect their devices. Reddit has suspended these advertisements and launched an investigation; the current number of victims and the amount of encryption loss have not yet been confirmed.
