Bitcoin rises as traders watch for the Fed's interest rate hikes
2026-09-17 18:44:48
CoinMeta data: Today, the price of Bitcoin rose to $76,621, an increase of 0.60% from midnight UTC and 0.88% within 24 hours. The price of Ethereum increased by 1.1% to $2,444.36, with Solana rising by 2% to $100.57. The Federal Reserve's Open Market Committee voted to raise the target interest rate by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4%. Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh stated that inflation levels are “too high and have lasted too long,” and recent data does not show a significant improvement in trends. Traders are comforted by the committee’s “dot plot” forecasts, expecting the median policy interest rate at the end of 2026 and 2027 to be 4.1%, which means only another 25 basis point hikes are needed, and there will not be a continued tightening cycle. Risk assets generally rose, with the US Dollar Index falling by 0.17%, NASDAQ 100 index futures rising by 1.04%, and S&P 500 index futures rising by 0.81%.
