According to CoinMeta, Google has launched a pilot program to pay publishers for their contributions to the AI driven search function. The program includes about 100 publishers and is aimed at addressing the scrutiny Google faces regarding the impact of its AI function on web traffic. Digiday was the first to report on this pilot program, which began less than a year ago. As part of the test, Google is said to pay based on the contributions of participating publishers to the AI summaries and AI mode functions.
