2026-09-30 23:36:43
CoinMeta Data: Open USD ( OUSD ) is a new type of stablecoin supported by companies such as Coinbase, Mastercard, Stripe, and Visa. Its aim is to challenge the dominance of USDT and USDC through decentralized economics and ownership. OUSD was officially launched on Ethereum, Solana, and other blockchains on Wednesday. The CEO of Open Standard, Zach Abrams, stated that OUSD is designed for banks, cross-border payments, card settlements, and institutional transactions. The market for this stablecoin currently exceeds $300 billion and is mainly dominated by USDT of Tether and USDC of Circle. Abrams believes that the economic model of OUSD will reward companies that drive supply and activity, rather than concentrating it in a single issuer.
