CoinMeta data: On the day that hackers completed the split of the Wall Street privacy coin ETF, they turned to Zcash to test new methods of transferring $387.5 million in illicit funds out of reach of recovery efforts. Wallets associated with suspected North Korean operators have pushed approximately $3.9 million into the latest privacy pool Ironwood. Investigations show that 15% of the stolen funds Zcash have entered this privacy pool; although investigators can still monitor the amounts entering the pool, once the funds are there, the senders, recipients, and transfer amounts become untraceable. The user protection fund was quickly restored to $309 million, and withdrawals from BTC, ETH, and USDT were gradually re-enabled on September 28th, 29th, and 30th.
