2026-10-01 13:25:45
According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Joy Business, a report from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) indicates that Ghana has become the fifth-largest cryptocurrency market in Sub-Saharan Africa, with an estimated annual trading volume of crypto assets amounting to about $21 billion. Approximately 8% to 17% of the population in Ghana have bought and sold crypto assets. IMF notes that the use of stablecoins in Ghana is growing rapidly, currently mainly for crypto transactions and inflation hedging. Their application in cross-border settlements within the informal and semi-formal economy is also on the rise, although their use in retail remittances is still limited. In December 2025, Ghana passed legislation related to virtual assets, incorporating stablecoins into its regulatory framework.
