BPI questions whether the rules of MSCI affect Strategy and Metaplanet
2026-10-01 14:16:28
CoinMeta US stock news: The Bitcoin Policy Institute ( BPI ) questions the "non-operating company" rule proposed by MSCI, which could result in Strategy and Metaplanet being excluded from its market index. BPI indicates that MSCI may have referred to earlier reviews of crypto asset treasuries when formulating this proposal. MSCI initially proposed to exclude digital asset treasury companies in 2025, but it was put on hold in January 2026 due to opposition. On August 3, MSCI re-proposed a broader proposal that may still exclude Strategy and Metaplanet. BPI calls for MSCI to release clearer standards to determine which companies qualify for its broader market index.
