Adam Aron: Robinhood Unauthorized tokenization of AMC stocks, Vlad Tenev: Aimed at meeting the needs of international investors
2026-10-01 19:11:36
According to CoinMeta, as reported by Reuters, AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron stated that Robinhood tokenized AMC stocks without the company's consent, describing the product as detestable. Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev argued that the company did not need to obtain consent, as the product was intended to meet the needs of international investors for exposure to U.S. stocks. The controversial product was issued by Robinhood, an offshore subsidiary, and is considered a debt security. The tokens track the stock price, but purchasers do not own the ownership of the corresponding underlying stocks; the industry refers to such synthetic products as “wrappers.”
