Analyst Warning: A 35% Surge in S&P 500 Profits May Be Difficult to Replicate in 2027

CoinMeta US stock data: Analysts warn that the profits of the S&P 500 index are expected to surge by 35% in 2026, but growth is expected to slow significantly in 2027, mainly due to rising expenditures on artificial intelligence and borrowing costs. Although the S&P 500 index still rose by about 12% this year due to high interest rates, rising oil prices, and geopolitical uncertainties, analysts expect profit growth to fall to around 15% in 2027. Artificial intelligence is one of the main drivers of accelerated corporate profits, and semiconductor companies such as Nvidia and Micron have benefited from substantial expenditures. By early September, S&P 500 profit growth had exceeded 30%, with 86% of the reporting companies exceeding earnings per share expectations. Nvidia and Micron are expected to generate more than half of the S&P 500's technology profit growth. Investors are paying more attention to whether the AI expenditures of large tech companies will yield sufficient returns, rather than just reward higher capital expenditures.
