According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Reuters, large American tech companies issued $220 billion in debt this year to fund AI data centers and models, which is twice the amount of the same period last year. This has pushed U.S. bond yields to their highest level since 2002. Higher yields have increased borrowing costs for everything from mortgages to car and student loans. The main economic impact is that interest expenses have surpassed global investments in AI.
