According to CoinMeta, the Independent Community Bankers of America filed a lawsuit against OCC on October 2 in the Federal District Court of the District of Columbia, accusing OCC of exceeding the authority granted by the National Bank Act by issuing national trust bank licenses to crypto companies, allowing them to obtain bank status without having to meet the same capital, liquidity, regulatory, and FDIC deposit insurance requirements. At least 13 of the 21 trust banks approved during the Trump administration were for crypto companies, involving companies such as Coinbase, Circle, Crypto.com, and World Liberty Financial.
