Citadel: Wall Street's Largest Buyer Prepares to Return to the Stock Market in Q4

CoinMeta data: Citadel indicates that the largest buyers on Wall Street are preparing to return to the stock market in the fourth quarter. Although small investors withdrew from the U.S. stock market in September, these individuals handle about 35% of transactions, and it is expected that they will be returning soon. Citadel Strategist Scott Rubner pointed out in a letter to clients on Thursday: "September was a time for resetting, and the fourth quarter is a time for reloading." However, the current pace of hiring in the United States has slowed down sharply, with borrowing costs exceeding 5%, and most stocks fell last month. According to Bloomberg data, retail stock trading volume in September dropped to 0.94 times the annual average, the lowest level since 2026, and 26% lower than the peak in June. Over the past four years, retail trading has averaged an increase of about 8% between September and October. Rubner also mentioned that many companies are not able to repurchase their own stocks before reporting earnings, but this window will reopen on October 15th. Analysts expect that earnings per share of the S&P 500 index to grow by 27% this quarter.
