According to CoinMeta, the Zcash Foundation announced the release of Zebra 7.0.0 – rc.0, which is the first candidate version for release of Nu7. Nu7 will be the next network upgrade for Zcash. The code for Nu7 has now been completed in Zebra, and the activation of the test network is scheduled for block 4,465,026, around October 6, 2026. Node operators are encouraged to upgrade before this date. The Nu7 upgrade will reduce the block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds and introduce new restrictions to protect wallets from spam. It is expected that this upgrade will result in a new network sustainability mechanism where a block is generated every 25 seconds, and a portion of each transaction fee will be recycled for future block rewards.
