According to CoinMeta, the Ethereum Foundation and Open Anonymous Project launched zkapi on the Ethereum mainnet on October 1st. This system allows users to pre-deposit amounts such as ETH and USDC, separating the billing identity from the request when paying for AI and other pay-as-you-go services. After users deposit funds, they can authorize payments through zero-knowledge proofs and a one-time API key. The server verifies the payment proof and generates a short-term key with a set quota limit. AI service providers can receive the secret phrase, but they will not be aware of the corresponding payment identity. zkapi does not hide the content of the secret phrase, and AI service providers can still read the secret phrase as well as respond to the stable IP address; repeated behaviors may also be associated with the user's identity. The project's code repository labels zkapi as an experimental project.
