According to CoinMeta, Chris Williamson, the chief business economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence, stated that in September, the growth rate of U.S. business activity reached its highest level in over five years. Increased demand and improved corporate confidence drove companies to expand output at the fastest pace in over five years. Combined with the similarly robust manufacturing sector PMI, the strong expansion in the services industry means that the U.S. economic growth rate in the third quarter is expected to reach around 4%. The further acceleration in economic growth in September also indicates that the momentum for growth is strengthening at the beginning of the fourth quarter. Technology companies reported growth rates that are the fastest in nearly four years, suggesting that the artificial intelligence boom is boosting large technology firms. Other industries have also been encouraged, with consumer-facing businesses, as well as those in healthcare, liquor, real estate, and financial services, all reporting accelerated growth. However, there are growing concerns that signs of an overheating economy are becoming apparent. Corporate input costs have risen rapidly due to increasing service prices, with the input cost inflation rate reaching its highest level in nearly four years in September. At the same time, rising fuel prices have increased cost pressures, and the pace of corporate price hikes has also accelerated, indicating that inflation rates may continue to exceed the Federal Reserve's target of 2%.
