S&P Global Launches $1 Billion Crypto Lending Risk Rating
2026-10-05 23:16:57
CoinMeta Data: S&P Global Ratings has launched a risk assessment ( VRA ) aimed at rating crypto lending pools, which currently have a market size of about $1 billion. S&P emphasizes that its new ratings are not credit ratings. Lending pools are considered a type of blockchain-based bond fund that aggregates deposits and lends them to borrowers. Over the past two years, deposits have grown by more than six times, yet there are still differences in disclosure standards among the various pools. S&P plans to rate crypto lending pools, with the assessment covering six risk areas, including portfolio credit quality, liquidity mismatch, managers, blockchain, protocols, as well as the security and governance of the pools. S&P's assessment of global risk factors will provide investors with a forward-looking perspective on the likelihood of losses they may suffer during market fluctuations.
