According to CoinMeta, Google received a court recommendation in its bid to acquire the old data of Spirit Airlines for use in the training of AI, and it is recommended that this $10 million transaction be approved. The court-appointed consumer privacy commissioner stated that Google and Spirit Airlines have taken measures to address consumer privacy issues, ensuring that the transaction will not pose a risk to the personal data of 97 million consumers. Although unions have raised objections to this transaction, fearing it may affect aviation safety, Google asserts that no personal information will be purchased, and all data will be de-identified by a third party before delivery. This transaction still requires final court approval, with a hearing expected to take place on October 14th.
