CFTC Announces Plans to Regulate Crypto Exchanges
2026-10-06 20:29:15
According to CoinMeta, after the Clearing House Act failed to pass, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) released a plan to regulate crypto exchanges, requesting public comments within 60 days. The plan aims to provide federal licenses for crypto exchanges in order to prevent fraud similar to that seen with FTX. Officials from the CFTC stated that these regulations will enable U.S. exchanges to offer leveraged products that are currently not available, thereby promoting user growth and industry development. This move could potentially make crypto assets once again a category of investable assets accessible to the general public.
