According to CoinMeta, Adam Izza, who claims to be the "godfather of crypto," was sentenced to 78 months in prison for leading a crypto criminal gang. The gang hired retired officers from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department as bodyguards and was involved in various crimes, including stealing over $37 million from Meta, tax evasion, and violating the civil rights of victims. Judge Pessy Anderson ruled that Izza's sentence would be served concurrently with the 15-year prison term he had already served for organizing a Bitcoin robbery in Connecticut. The court also ordered him to pay $23.4 million in compensation.
