Bitget Wallet COO: Self-management is essential to ensure asset security

According to CoinMeta, Alvin Kan, the Chief Operating Officer of Bitget wallet, stated that self-custody must ensure the security of asset ownership. He called for clarifying transaction permissions and restoring control over wallets after a security vulnerability worth $387.5 million was reported at Bitget exchange. He pointed out that self-custody should reduce the damage caused by a single security failure without requiring users to become security experts. Kan emphasized that wallet developers must address these risks in their products, including how users approve payments and recover access after losing their devices. According to the company's statement, Bitget wallet was not affected by the exchange incident; the wallet is described as an independent self-custody service, with users retaining control over their assets on the blockchain.
