Taurus: Banks integrating with Swift blockchain need to overcome three major technical barriers
2026-10-07 20:01:10
CoinMeta data: Lamine Brahimi, co-founder and managing partner of Taurus, stated that although the blockchain ledger of Swift may already be ready for real-time payments, banks still need to establish their own digital asset infrastructure to connect to that network. He pointed out that banks require three key elements: a permission ledger to interact with the Swift ledger, wallet functionality, and the ability to tokenize and execute smart contracts using Swift. Brahimi believes that these requirements do not pose a significant obstacle for banks that have already issued or managed digital assets, nor will they prevent Swift from continuing to dominate its field. In July, Swift announced that 17 banks were ready to conduct real-time token deposit transactions, marking the first attempt at modernizing their banking messaging systems.
