The US suspends applications for Green Cards for Microsoft and Adobe; Competition for AI Talents Intensifies
2026-10-09 11:58:14
According to CoinMeta, the U.S. Department of Labor has suspended all new and pending green card labor certification requests from Microsoft, Adobe, and six other IT outsourcing companies. This decision further complicates the process for foreign tech professionals to obtain green cards, especially against the backdrop of increasingly fierce competition in the field of artificial intelligence. The suspension mainly applies to PERM applications, and employers are required to prove that hiring foreign workers will not have a negative impact on American workers. This suspension will also affect companies such as Cognizant, Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, Wipro, HCL Technologies, and Capgemini. Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling stated that since 2009, these eight companies have applied for nearly three million foreign workers and obtained more than one hundred thousand permanent labor certifications. Vice President JD Vance announced that the ban will continue until the companies modify their hiring policies.
