Swiss Giotto claims to be building Europe's strongest sovereign AI; after being exposed for fraud, they admitted that "part of the model weights come from Kimi"

According to CoinMeta, the Swiss AI laboratory Giotto released two models, Alto and Solo, claiming to have created “Europe’s smartest sovereign AI.” However, after the models were released, netizens discovered that Alto claimed to represent the dark side of China. The co-founder of Giotto and CEO Aldo Podest acknowledged that the models indeed inherited some of the weights from Kimi, but emphasized that the team retrained them and incorporated their own developed inference computation (TTC) technology. Ironically, Podest had previously criticized Europe for packaging open-source models as “sovereign AI” on October 19th, only to find himself doing the same. Similar incidents have occurred multiple times before. On September 2nd, a Spanish AI company Multiverse Computing promoted Quasar as “Europe’s leading AI model,” without mentioning in the announcement that it was based on Zhispu GLM-5.2 compression and optimization techniques, until they disclosed this in a technical article the following day.
