According to CoinMeta, CZ reported that today there were 4 data leakage incidents, involving Coinbase's third-party supplier Amplitude (customer funds were not affected), the South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb, as well as South Korean securities companies Mirae Asset and Daishin Securities. CZ stated that the leaked exchange data was mainly used for phishing, SIM card hijacking, social engineering fraud, and brute-force attacks. In response, CZ made several recommendations, including using independent email aliases and dedicated backup numbers for each platform, refusing to provide unnecessary personal information, using strong and unique passwords, and mandatory activation of hardware security keys or passkeys. It is also recommended to completely disable SMS 2FA, enable a whitelist for withdrawal addresses, set withdrawal time locks, and use anti-phishing codes. Regularly clean up API keys and active sessions, apply to operators for number transfer-out locks, and assume that all proactive contacts from "customer service" are fraudsters; never click on external links.
