Ghostty Release 1.4: Maximum historical record capacity increased by 5 times, yet memory usage is even more efficient
2026-10-28 15:39:27
According to CoinMeta, the Ghostty terminal emulator has released version 1.4.0 after 7 months of development, with 172 contributors submitting nearly 2900 code updates. The new version increases the historical record limit from 10MB per terminal to 50MB, and compressing ordinary text records can save 70% to 90% of physical memory. Official tests show that when 1 visible tag and 20 background tags are opened, the memory usage of GPU drops from about 385MiB to 18MiB. The new version also fixes 10 security vulnerabilities, one of which involves kitty graphics instructions; attackers could potentially induce the terminal to display malicious output, causing the program to crash or result in abnormal memory usage.
