According to CoinMeta, the Bithumb exchange confirmed that its internal migration work system was subjected to unauthorized access on October 27, 2026, involving personal information of its employees. The Financial Services Commission of Korea (FSS) is investigating intrusion incidents at several financial institutions, including Bithumb, Future Asset Global Investment, and Daeshin Securities. Bithumb disclosed this incident on October 28 and is investigating whether the attackers also accessed customer information. FSS has dispatched an inspection team to Daeshin Securities to assess the security incident. Bithumb stated that preliminary investigation results mainly involve records of company employees, but it has not yet ruled out the possibility that the attackers may have accessed information of exchange members. The exchange also reported that the intrusion did not directly affect customers' digital assets, and no theft of cryptocurrencies was confirmed.
