Institution: UK Budget unlikely to change economic prospects, central bank may still raise interest rates

According to CoinMeta, David Reese, the chief economist at Schroder Investment, stated in a report that the UK budget provides some relief for households facing the cost-of-living crisis, but it is not sufficient to change the economic outlook. The current economic situation still supports an interest rate hike by the Bank of England (BOE). He pointed out that measures to alleviate consumer price pressures will be of some help, but there is no sufficient reason to adjust the recent economic forecasts. Economic growth shows resilience, and inflation continues to rise, which means the BOE is likely to raise interest rates about twice, with the first hike possibly occurring next week. In addition, the fiscal buffer is narrowing, and in the future, if UK government bond yields face further upward pressure, the government will be more vulnerable to shocks. Currently, the US economy is showing signs of overheating, and Europe is also about to enter a period of elections full of uncertainties.
