Israeli election results point to political deadlock, stock market declines, and the shekel weakens

According to CoinMeta, affected by the preliminary election results that suggested a possible political deadlock, Israel's stock market tumbled significantly on Wednesday, and the local currency, the shekel, also weakened. Israel's benchmark stock index TA-35 fell by about 3% during trading, while the more comprehensive TA-125 index lost over 3%. The shekel depreciated by 2.3% against the US dollar, reaching 3.1230, with financial and real estate stocks leading the decline. Preliminary forecasts indicate that no major political camp is currently able to secure a majority of seats in parliament. Standard Chartered Bank noted that the uncertainty surrounding Israel's elections has heightened geopolitical risks, and tensions between the United States and Iran have intensified, potentially threatening diplomatic mediation efforts. The bank warned that the market remains highly sensitive to further developments in the Middle East situation.
