According to CoinMeta, as reported by TechCrunch, Microsoft generated $10 billion in revenue from OpenAI in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027, accounting for 11% of its total revenue of $92.3 billion. In fiscal year 2026, Microsoft earned $24.1 billion in revenue from OpenAI. As of the end of September, OpenAI owed Microsoft $7.2 billion. Microsoft's stake in OpenAI decreased from about 25% in June to 24%. Microsoft's Azure revenue for that quarter was $33.2 billion, a year-on-year increase of 48%.
