According to CoinMeta, Canadian crypto lending platforms apx and lending plan to launch Bitcoin-backed housing loans in the first quarter of 2027, allowing homebuyers to use cryptocurrencies as collateral to obtain a down payment or the full amount of the house price. Currently, they have opened a waiting list for registration. Taking a house valued at approximately $475,000 as an example, a homebuyer could mortgage assets worth $190,000 to borrow $95,000 for a 20% down payment. If they wish to finance the full cost of the house, they would need to mortgage assets worth about $475,000 and use the property as additional collateral. apx has not yet announced the loan interest rates, repayment terms, limits on the loan-to-value ratio, or conditions for collateral liquidation. The current annual interest rates for their crypto-backed mortgages range from 9.99% to 11.49%, but these may not apply to the new product.
