According to CoinMeta, OpenAI has announced that it will offer a API allowance to eligible ChatGPT Pro and Business users. Pro users can receive a discount equivalent to $100, $200, or $500 per month in three different packages, while Business users will be credited based on the number of paid seats, at $20 per seat for Standard and $100 per seat for Premium. Users can receive up to $500 per month in total across all workspaces. This benefit is not a first for OpenAI; Anthropic introduced a similar policy for Claude Max and Team users as early as October 7th. Max users with 5x and 20x subscriptions can receive $100 and $200 per month respectively, and Team also offers a discount based on the number of seats, with a maximum of $500 per month. To receive this benefit, users must subscribe and pay for at least 7 days, and they must bind their accounts to their own API organization. The initial allowance is calculated based on the remaining time of the current billing cycle and is automatically renewed with each subscription renewal. Any unused allowance will expire and not be carried over. The free API allowance can be used to call OpenAI's text, image, voice, and other models, but it cannot be used to pay for the costs of calling Codex services.
