According to CoinMeta, the “Fed mouthpiece” Nick Timiraos stated that if core commodity prices continue to rise, service prices must slow down more significantly in order for the Federal Reserve to achieve its 2% inflation target. In September, core PCE service prices (excluding housing) rose by 0.37%, pushing the year-on-year increase to 3.6%, which is in line with the highest reading since 2024. Core commodity prices also remained strong, rising by 0.20%. During 2024, core commodity prices had seen year-on-year declines, but currently their increase has reached 2%.
