According to CoinMeta, the latest data shows that inflation in the United States has risen again, becoming a core issue ahead of the mid-term elections. The U.S. Department of Commerce reported on Thursday that consumer prices in September increased by 3.6% year-on-year, up from 3.4% in August, and rose by 0.5% month-on-month, the highest level since May. The war in Iran has pushed up oil and gasoline prices, further exacerbating the annual inflation rate in the U.S. Currently, oil prices in the U.S. are still above $100 per barrel, compared to less than $70 before the war. Polls indicate that the resurgence of inflation has made most voters dissatisfied with the economic situation and President Trump's handling of rising living costs. During his 2024 campaign, Trump promised to reduce gasoline prices to below $2 per gallon, but the current national average price is around $4.25 per gallon. Even after excluding the more volatile energy and food prices, inflation has also accelerated.
