According to CoinMeta, Anthropic has announced the implementation of KYC checks for some Claude users, requiring them to provide government-issued identification and selfies. According to the updated official guidelines, authentication may be triggered when users access certain functions, undergo platform security reviews, or encounter other security and compliance requirements. Anthropic uses an authentication provider, Persona, to process documents and confirm user identities, accepting various forms of government-issued identification such as passports, driver's licenses, and national ID cards. The company stated that the authentication data will not be used for training Claude models or for advertising purposes, and that the information may be shared with authorized authentication providers under legal requirements.
