Polymarket Suspends Trading to Investigate Security Incident
2026-10-30 02:59:41
According to CoinMeta, Polymarket announced a suspension of trading due to a security incident that is under investigation by the authorities. Users reported that the platform's frontend may have been compromised, allowing assets to be withdrawn without authorization. The platform's status page indicated that its API trading system was experiencing a major malfunction, with the exchange operating in only cancellation mode, which means traders could cancel existing orders but could not place new ones. The relayer process of signing and submitting transactions to the blockchain has also been paused. A trader named caronpolymarket stated on social media, "If you are a Polymarket user, please lock your account; I just lost 800,000 dollars." He added that other accounts were also affected, with friends losing approximately 600,000 dollars each. Polymarket later confirmed that one of its third-party providers had been compromised and stated that it had referred the matter to the relevant law enforcement authorities, promising to compensate affected users in full.
