According to CoinMeta, as reported by Axios, U.S. Central Command Commander General Cooper is scheduled to brief President Trump on the latest developments regarding the Iran conflict on the 29th local time, with a focus on the ongoing maritime blockade. Sources indicate that Trump wishes to directly assess the effectiveness of the maritime blockade. Cooper also reported on military operations by the U.S. military guiding oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz to global energy markets, as well as economic pressure measures jointly implemented by the U.S. military and the Treasury Department. Senior officials such as Defense Secretary Hagelstead, Treasury Secretary Besant, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Kane, and White House Special Envoy Whitkoff also attended the meeting. Meanwhile, a regional mediation effort led by Qatar is pushing for the United States and Iran to avoid resuming hostilities after the U.S. mid-term elections and to restart negotiations instead. A regional source stated that the mediation efforts are currently in a “very sensitive phase.”
